As a Physician Executive, VP of Strategy and Growth, Surgery Service Line Chief, Interim Chair of Neurosurgery and Professor of Plastic Surgery at Corewell Health, Dr. Selber leads surgical excellence across the eight hospitals of Corewell Health East. Before joining Corewell, he served 15 years at MD Anderson Cancer Center, rising to Director of Clinical Research and later Acting Chair of Plastic Surgery.

As a pioneer of complex cancer reconstruction, Dr. Selber is credited with performing the world’s first skull, scalp kidney and pancreas transplant, the world’s first identical-twin transplant for large-scale cancer reconstruction in 2017. He also introduced robotics to Plastic Surgery and authored the only robotic plastic surgery textbook to date, as well as founded the Robotic Assisted Microsurgical and Endoscopy Society (RAMSES) and serves on its executive board. Dr. Selber has over 200 peer reviewed publications and has given over 400 national and international lectures.

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Selber uplifts global health through his service with Doctors Without Borders and Operation Smile. Additionally, he is a board member of United to Cure Cancer, a non-profit that works to expand pediatric oncology care in underserved communities.
