Marzia Salgarello is Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Catholic University of “Sacro Cuore”, Rome, Italy, where she is the Director of the Residency Program in Plastic Surgery.

Former Chief of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the University Hospital “A. Gemelli”, Rome, Italy, she is the Founder of the Center for Surgical Treatment of Lymphedema at the same Hospital.

At the present time she focuses her activity on breast reconstruction and aesthetic, post-oncologic reconstructive microsurgery, and lymphatic surgery.

She is author of about 200 peer-reviewed articles, 25 chapters on reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery in textbooks, and she is the Editor of the book “Breast reconstruction: current techniques” published by InTech in 2012.

Member of the Italian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SICPRE), Coordinator of the Chapter on Breast Reconstruction for SICPRE. Member of the SICPRE Educational Committee.

Member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), of the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM), of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS).

General Secretary of ICOPLAST. Member of the Board of Directors of ICOPLAST as representative for Europe. Coordinator of the Chapter on Breast Reconstruction for ICOPLAST.

Section Editor of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal.
